PACSstar automatically generates orders populated with patient demographics via DICOM header extraction or an HL-7 interface.

Through the Web-based application, a user, typically a technologist, can enter the patient's clinical indication/history and referring physician contact information as needed. After a one time set up, technologists can link referring physicians to their cases. This enables referring physicians with secure access to the study info, report and images via the portal.

Scanned documents can easily be attached to the patient record. If a scanned document exists, it automatically appears on the workflow screen. Historical reports appear below the worklist area. Prior images are easily accessible if they exist. All information the radiologist needs is available in a single desktop view.

PACSstar's unique, routing engine enables images to be automatically routed to the appropriate radiologist via a DICOM transfer in a matter of seconds based on the following routing rules as well as customized options that can be created for clients:

Routing Rules:
  • Location
  • Modality
  • Anatomy
  • Radiologists work schedule
  • Date/Time ranges
  • Radiologists' state licensure/credentials
  • Client's custom requirements
  • Any combination of the above

Imaging facilities can also resend images or priors as needed, as well as change header information. The radiologist worklist, by default, manages studies in a first in, first out basis, but clients can customize several aspects of the worklist. STAT cases are moved to the top of the worklist. If more than one STAT case appears at the top of the worklist, they are prioritized by date/time. Colors are utilized to indicate STAT cases or other custom indicators.

PACSstar is a zero click workflow solution for radiologists. Patient information and images ready within the worklist -- both current and prior -- automatically load for the next case. Associated images are automatically launched from eFilm Workstation.

Through integrated Nuance Dragon Medical, the radiologist can dictate and generate a report. Reports are customized with client logo, address, etc.  Reports can be distributed to clients or direct to referring physicians via auto fax, secure online portal, integration with another system or XML delivery to a secure FTP site. Reports can be printed from the portal as well. Clients can check on the report status via the portal. The home page of the online referring portal can be customized with the imaging facility's logo, contact info, or special news updates.
